Emma
/ you must be the best judge of your own happiness /
Written by Jane Austen, “Emma” is a novel about Emma, an intelligent young woman whose misplaced confidence in her matchmaking abilities occasions several romantic misadventures. The novel centres around key messages of marriage, love, social class and women’s role in society.
The overall visual took inspiration from the saying “tying red cords for matchmaking.” Thus, it integrated sewing, continuous line art illustrations, and flowing typography. A translucent envelope is designed to visualise the process of unveiling the plot twists by untying the sewing on the enclosure.
*this project included sending finished art at the correct specification for print production.
